I would love to find out who my biological parents are. Unfortunately it is a financial and legal nightmare to undertake. Where is Oprah when you really need her?
My children are both adopted. I know who their birth parents are and have met all but one (he had to go surfing that day and didn’t want to take the time to meet us). We have pictures of them up in the house, and each of the kids has a collection of letters from their respective parents. We have even been in touch by phone with part of my son’s birth family.
I have a number of friends who were adopted. Quite a few have absolutely no interest in finding their birth parents. They consider their adoptive parents to be their parents. One friend did seek out his birth family and went to visit them. He said he found it fascinating to be in the same room with so many people that looked like him, but that they were strangers; very nice strangers, but nonetheless folks he did not have much in common with.
