My State checks my background for my professional license in health care.
sometimes just the local police station checks you for that county. Or the employer might check the national sex offenders list or check you out for the whole state, or the whole country. Each level costs more to process the information
That doesnt mention employers checking other things on your background. See if you are lying about going to Harvard?
I do background checks on potential renters. I use my county’s public website to look up their court case history for evictions. Of course, if something nastier shows up I don’t rent to them, either.
Private eyes. But it’ll cost ya.
