Would you feel positive to a system where you can pay with you cell phone?

Let’s assume you could use it everywhere and in all transactions you would otherwise use cash or card.
Do you see any benefits with it as opposed to existing payment methods?
Should it be connected directly to you account or that you “fill up” you cell with a certain amount of your choice previously as a form of ATM cash withdrawal?

They have used it in Japan for almost 10 years. Pretty sure it’s a good system.
So, yes, I would love to pay with my cell phone.
Both options should be a available – identity and pre-pay.
I’m all for it for small things. There was an article in Wired ages ago about how, in Norway, for example, you can walk up to a soda machine, call a number and a sodey pop pops out, with the cost billed to your phone.
i think for such things it’d be great. but, for other things – i.e. groceries, clothing, etc. not so much. What would happen if your cell got nicked?
what’s better: if no one was expected to pay for incoming calls.
I like the idea. Whether I used it or not would depend on how secure it seemed—if it worked like credit cards, where I could review the purchases and contest them before having to pay for them, I’d be a lot happier. This gives the financial companies behind it an incentive to get it right, because if they get it wrong, they’re out the money.
Yes, definitely. It will become widespread at some point.
There was an article in the Economist in the last couple months on the use of this technology in Africa to compensate for the instability of local banks.
