I've finally figured out a way to get my son to agree to fly to the states this summer (woohoo!) I have some ideas but what cool, fun things would you suggest we do in the central Kentucky area?

Teach him how to drink Kentucky Bourbon.
are you the guy with the ex wife in Germany and the boy that was scared of flying? I don’t know about Kentucky, just wanted to see how that went.
Red River Gorge, Newport Aquarium, Hillerich & Bradsby Bat factory, Frazier Historical Museum, Holiday World in Indiana, ride the Belle of Louisville
@asmonet He lives in Germany with my ex. He was born in Colorado but he hasn’t lived there (other than visiting Grandma) since he was 1
how wonderful! i’m sure whatever you do, you’ll have a blast!
I’m not familiar with Kentucky..but you could take him fishing, or the local museums.
You’re talking my turf here, FGS
Dino World, Mammoth Cave, Nashville
Is this to suggest that there are things to do in central Kentucky?
@Jack79 Yep, that’s me…happy as hell!! Kelly27 came up with the suggestion and it worked like a champ. It requires A LOT of traveling on my part but its totally worth it!!
The Glitz for lunch—its all mirrors and lights
Stay a night at the WigWam Village Motel
Whitewater rafting.
I’m so happy for you!
@AlfredaPrufrock I know :) I was thinking a tour of Mammoth Caves would be cool (as well as Dino-World…who couldn’t resist the life sized T-Rex outside :))
My 19 yo loves Dino World. That whole exit is kid’s paradise
@FGS
those caves ARE awesome
I remember
@AlfredaPrufrock I’m thinking of taking him to the Land Between the Lakes to go camping and fishing. He’s never fished before so it would be a true daddy/son teaching/bonding time.
Ok, so you followed the suggestion to go pick him up? I’m sure you won’t regret it. Let’s hope he overcomes his fear of flying, maybe find something nice to do on the plane too so he doesn’t get bored. Good luck with everything, I’m happy for you :)
That would be lots of fun, FGS. Will his visit coincide with the moonbow at Cumberland Falls?
If he is a skateboarder, bmxer or god forbid a rollerblader one of the nicest and biggest concrete skateparks in the country is in Louisville right next to the Louisville Slugger museum.
@Jack79 I made the suggestion to him on Sunday when I was on via Skype. He thought the idea of me picking him up was great and that he could handle going home alone.
Holiday World in Indiana is totally worth the drive.
It is cool. nighttime rainbow at the falls
and the Gorge—being up on the arches at night is cool.
I’ve heard that too, about Kart Kountry. How long is he staying?
@AlfredaPrufrock His summer vacation is only from 18 Jul -23 Aug. I was looking at the 28th of JUL to the 14th of AUG ( He needs to have some time with mom)
@buster We may have to check that out!!
wait at the airport for the plane home, wearing a bullet proof west behind bullet proof glass.
@ragingloli WTF?
I’m so glad this worked out for you FGS! Have a wonderful time. :D
eat tons of kentucky fried chicken to blend in with the general populace by massively gaining body mass.
No advice, just dropping in to say CONGRATS! That’s awesome! I’m glad it worked out for you.
