Any idea when iPhone OS 3 comes out?

I’m going on a trip mid-June and wondering whether I’ll have the new functions by then…. Apple says “summer” but could that mean early June?

If I had to pick – and really, no one outside Apple knows – I’d put money on July 8–12.

Historically, Apple has tried to make the big product announcements at events like WWDC. Steve Jobs might also come back by then and it’d probably be fun for him announce it.

The flip side is that Apple plays by their own rules. They’ll release it when they want to. And it really could be anytime later than now.
