Does anyone know about getting SLR lenses cleaned?

I don’t think Ritz would have worked on your camera anyway. They would send it out to a repair shop. Google a ‘camera repair shop for your zip code;. If your area is large enough for a dedicated camera store, I bet there is someomne doing camera repairs and cleaning.

I once had my SLR cleaned by a privately owned camera shop that I trusted very much. Cardinal had the best idea: grab a phone book or the internet and look for a repair shop that you can go to yourself.

I know these stores are becoming harder and harder to find, but they are out there. You say you live in a small town, so you might have to do a bit of driving, but if it were my camera, I’d be OK with that, seeing as my DSLR and SLR are my babies.
Up until about 2 years ago, there was still a cobbler in my neighborhood in Chicago. Yeah. A cobbler.

I recently sent a lens back to Canon. Excessive dust, and I didn’t think it was as sharp as it should be. They made the process very simple. They charged a standard fee of about $100, and the lens came back in factory condition within a few days. Check out the Nikon Web site, and you should be able to get an idea of what it will cost. They also list authorized 3rd party repair centers.

Yeah if I’m going to have to send it out by mail Nikon might be my best be. I check to see if Salt Lake City has anyone. Boise would be the next city to try. Who knows maybe it will be a good excuse to visit my cousin in Vegas. Thanks for the input. Wish I could afford a clean room then I could go into business. LOL!

Well shoot howdy! There’s one in SLC, and one in Portland OR. Only I would need it done BEFORE the wedding in Portland. LOL! I’ll be calling SLC. Boy do I feel brain dead not thinking of this myself. Must have been the Drug Awareness classes I had to teach our homeschool group. Left my brain numb. hee
