Is it bad to brush with water after brushing your teeth or rinse with water after using Listerine?

I hate the feeling/taste of toothpaste and Listerine, but I want to use them (obviously). I have taken to brushing with water after i brush with toothpaste and rinsing with water after using Listerine. Is this bad to do? Does it counteract the effects of the toothpaste or Listerine? I know that you’re not supposed to eat or drink after getting fluoride at the dentist, but is it the same with daily dental hygiene?
