I just got my first tattoo a week ago and I am the worlds biggest baby. I got mine on the side of my hip kinda on the love handle and it hurt but it wasnt unbearable. And its a place that looks really good on a female too.

It all hurts.

I’d say the back of the neck wasn’t too painful though, just annoying to have to sit in that one position for a little while. It made my neck go stiff.

Somewhere fleshy without a lot of nerve endings would be a good place. A haunch, perhaps, if you’ve got one. Or down the back of your arm or thigh, I’d imagine. I have one on my lower back and it only hurt when the artist went over my spine. Even that was not as bad as I was expecting. Pop a Tylenol 20 minutes before the artist starts working and you’ll be OK.

My least painful was the inside of my forearm. It is going to hurt wherever you get it, but if you really want a tattoo you deal with it.

Just pop some Oxycontin or Roxycontin before you go. If you want to be a pussy you can always do something soft like Loratab or Marijuana

No more pain….. The power of modern medicine

Drinking and aspirin aren’t the best ideas before a tattoo. Makes you bleed more because it thins your blood.

Avoid bony spots. The closer to the bone the more painful it is.

@Ownage No artist I’ve ever gone to will work on anyone under the influence.

@elijah I plan on getting my next there..good to hear it wasn’t too bad!

It is supposed to be your breasts. And your butt. Somewhere with a lot of fat/flesh, lol.

@The_Compassionate_Heretic hit what I was going to say right on the head…do NOT take tylenol it thins you blood and will thus cause more bleeding, and ignore @Ownage you will never get a good artist to tattoo you if you’re under the influence.

That said…I have 7 and honestly none of them have been that bad. I have my forearms done on both arms and they only hurt during the outline. The rest is just sort of a dull buzzing sensation. You’ll be fine no matter where you put it!

Good luck!

The tattoos on my chest hurt the least by far, the ankles were pretty painful, but the inner wrist was the one that nearly brought a tear to my eye. Where ever you get tattooed is going to be painful-but it’s worth it in the end.

@adreamofautumn Sorry, but TYLENOL does not thin your blood. Neither does IBUPROFEN. Both are safe prior to a tattoo. ASPIRIN, on the other hand, inhibits the activity of platelets and can cause increased bleeding.

On mine, i think on the upper back part of my arm. You know where the fat is. But really the more fat the less it hurts.

Nerves really aren’t consistent from person to person. Or even on the same person. I’m working a pair of mirrored tattoos and while the tattoos are mirrored the nerves aren’t. On the left size my hip was easy-peasy, but closer to the knee on the back of the leg was agony. The right side was a breeze, until he got to the hip. I didn’t expect that.
