Is Fluther experiencing technical difficulties? Why was the Ear question not directed to me?

In fact, my “Questions For You” has been empty the couple times I got to check in today, which never happens… usually I have over a dozen questions because my profile includes so many topics.
I didn’t have time to look into it earlier today; but just now out of curiosity, I went to the main page and found an ear-related question. I answered it, since that is my profession; then I checked the tags, and 2 of the 3 listed are definitely in my profile. Did I miss something?

I’m having the same issue. By the way, since you are in the ear profession… is it true that bugs crawl into our ears at night and if so how do we know if there is one there now?!
I recall about a year ago that an ear question was asked, and the poster even put my name in the question, but it was not directed to me. She had misspelled my name HearCat fir one thing; but just by being an ear question, I should have gotten it and I didn’t. That was when I became aware of the challenges of having people type in their own tags, and also when I started to add so many tags to my profile.
Thanks, @fireside… as I said, I just logged on (and it’s past my bedtime) so I didn’t dig through the questions.
@BBSDTfamily: Yes, bugs like cozy warm spaces, and if one crawled in there, you would know it. Our ears are highly sensitive to touch as a defense mechanism, and the ear wax is also there to repel critters (it supposedly tastes bad) and to trap them so they can’t get too close to the delicate eardrum and middle ear system.
Supposedly tastes bad? : )
Since someone asked this morning I haven’t got any “questions for you” either. I wonder if something happened during that “down for maintenance” time the other night?
@fireside: I’ve never tasted it, and I don’t know what appeals to insects even if I had… I know there’s a better word/phrase, but I’m over-tired at the moment.
just kidding. it smells awful to me, but like you said, I’m not a bug.
Sleep well!
@Judi: There was maintenance? I know when I tried to check in shortly after 6:00 EDT this morning, I couldn’t get on, but I was able to access other sites.
@hearkat: You’ve never scratched the inside of your ear and then bit your nail, only to realize a moment too late your horrible and foul-tasting mistake? :P
@fireside: Dont get me started in smelly ears! Thank you, and good night. :-)
@asmonet: I never was a nail-biter… sounds gross, though.
@hearkat: I was as a kid, those memories have haunted me.
oh my god, seriously..bugs in ears?! i was not prepared for this.
This question has taken quite an unsettling turn.
I have seen ants and cockroaches in ears. If you don’t have bugs in your home, you really needn’t worry about it. It also happens to people while camping.
if someone gets a bug in their ear shine a light in the ear, and it may attract the insect and lure it out.
oh dear lord. do you tell the people they have dead bugs in their ear? i would never, ever want to know. we had a lady bug infestation once and i seriously would hear them too close to comfort, near my ears. ahhh!
@hearkat & asmonet: So, I was taking a test today, and during it, at some point, I scratched the inside of my ear, then later licked the same finger in order to turn a page. It tasted quite bad, quite bad indeed (thought it wasn’t the first time it had happened.) As I tasted the ickiness, I thought of this question fondly.
any news on when we will start getting questions recomended to us again?
I’m betting that the guys took the weekend off. Andrew just figured out something was happening on Friday. (30-ish hours ago)
@La_chica_gomela: HaHaHa! Oddly enough, I was with a group that went on an outing in Central Park today, and the subject of bugs in ears was brought up by some others in the group! Synchronicity or something!
I just got some new questions for me
Yay, four questions for me! All is right in the world again. :D
And now I have 150 questions in my Alerts! Gah!
This may be one of those “Be careful what you wish for” scenarios…
