The Black Chuckle.
When I was a kid there was a candy called Chuckles. They were five multi-coulored. slabs of jelly coated in rock sugar. There was a red one, a green one, a yellow one, an orange one, and a black one. When I was young everyone would eat the other chuckles, and leave the black one out, because it had a strong black liqourish taste.
It was then that I, captain eattheblackchuckle came to rescue to the delight of starving african children everywhere.
I did it for effect. Black Chuckles taste terrible.
It isn’t so much that most people hate these, just that the people who do react so violently. It’s hard to imagine getting so upset about something someone else is eating.
Olives
boba
Surprisingly I’ve met a few people that share my love of eating frozen vegetables, frozen.
Pickled herring.
Anchovies.
Brussel sprouts.
Liverwurst.
Kim chi.
Chicken gizzards and livers.
Stinky cheese (ooooh, I’ve got some Stilton in the fridge)
Onions and garlic.
Monk fish liver sashimi.
And I love still-frozen peas, still-frozen corn, and still-frozen green beans.
However, I greatly dislike raw oysters.
@Darwin…how does anyone in possession of a palate turn their noses up at garlic and onions?
@Blondesjon – I don’t know but some people do. I see them pick them out of their food and line them up along the edges of their plates.
And @fundevogel seems to think some people can’t abide olives, either, which I find amazing.
Brussels sprouts. BRUSSELS, PEOPLE. THERE IS AN S. lolz, it’s a pet peeve of mine.
Other things I love that other people have thought me weird for: stinky cheeses, liverwurst, beets, peas, eggplant, spinach, asparagus, (actually, most vegetables will earn you a weird look from a pretty large number of people, and there aren’t really vegetables I don’t like), candy corn…
@Darwin – every time someone orders a pizza around me at least one person wrinkles their nose at olives. I know, I don’t understand it either. I mean this is what made Athena golden.
we should throw a frozen veggie and olive dinner party.
black licorish dont know if that is spelled right
Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, spinach, greens of all types.
Sardines, pickled herring, and rocky mountain oysters- if they are done right.
Can’t do cow tongue, tripe or beets.
@Garebo,...Mmm forgot about cow tongue. The secret is to boil it in your favorite flavors for a couple of hours to soften it. Pull it out, let it cool a bit, and skin it. Throw it back in the pot and let it simmer for a couple more hours. Slice it paper thin and put it between two slices of good bread with your favorite fixin’s.
if you didn’t know it was tongue, you wouldn’t know it was tongue
if I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard that….
Brussels sprouts, garlic, onions and tomatoes.
Sauerkraut-I grew up on that stuff. My husband and I both love it and we will eat it quite often with either some Nathan’s Famous hot dogs or some German Sausage that is hand made at a small market in my area. I also love Brussel sprouts-I will eat them plain but prefer them smothered in cheese sauce.
I love most fruit cake and figgy pudding.
