Is the stock market really necessary and why?

Is it REALLY needed or is it a way for people with money to make more money?

You dont need a lot of money to make money in the stock market.

It’s a way for people who have partial ownership in companies to buy and sell that partial ownership. As long as you have the concept of partial ownership in companies, people will want to buy and sell their partial ownership. You may as well ask if an open-air farmer’s market is really necessary: no, strictly speaking it isn’t, but how are people going to buy and sell vegetables if it isn’t there?

Fundamentally, it is a way for everyone to make more money. It’s much more intricate than that though. In short, that’s just the way business works – it’s all about investment.

Investing in stocks and bonds helps companies grow – produce better quality/products that the market demands. We dont NEED the stock-market per se, but it’s a major chunk of our economy.
