Why is my salt mill made of fail?

Asked by andrew (16562points) May 6th, 2009

I received a really nice set of Peugeot salt and pepper mills as a gift. The pepper mill works fine, but the salt mill will not, no matter how much I shake or adjust the tension, grind salt. Any ideas of how I can fix it?

Okay Andrew- this will sound stupid but I will throw it out there anyway.

Pepper is softer than salt. Try taking out the pepper from the pepper mill and using the salt in it. If it works try the pepper in the salt one.

That set is too good looking, it wouldn’t be right with the universe for both to work well and come through for you.

Are you sure you’ve got the salt in the right mill? If I remember correctly, salt mills use ceramic blades and pepper mills use metal (stainless steel?) blades. I’d try Dog’s suggestion, and if that doesn’t work, call Peugeot.

@Andrew; Maybe Peugeot will swap your mills for a nice little sardine box on wheels car.
