How much time is required between shifts /?

There must be some requirement for sleep or can you be forced to work 24hrs a day seven days a week?I can work 16 hrs but must have 8 hrs before working the next shift.But that was a union requirement I am 50 and live in the US

I don’t know of any such laws, but I suspect that those would differ from state to state. You are correct in saying that some unions will negotiate for a certain set amount of time off between shifts. If you aren’t unionized, your choices are pretty slim. But you may want to take it up with your superiors, they probably want well rested, alert employees, and it takes a certain amount of time between shifts for you to recover.
