How can I burn a .wmv file to DVD so it will play when I put it in a standard DVD player?
I’ve tried 3 times so far. The DVD players just tell me there is a disc error/Please check disc. I’m using DVD-R’s.

You’ll have to convert it to MPEG2. You can sue many programs such as Convert AVI/WMV to DVD Converter. Try googling WMV to DVD.
If you are using a Mac, download a piece of software called Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip. Both are free and will allow you to convert the file to MPEG2 for DVD playback.
The format of a DVD is particular and detailed. Only certain volume names are allowed, all files need to be in a VIDEO_TS subdirectory, but there must also be an empty AUDIO_TS subdirectory. The files themselves need to be converted to VOB files compressed with the MPEG2 codec. If you’re on a Mac, the easiest way to accomplish all this is to convert the files from AVI to VOB with a product called VisualHub. On a PC, there’s a similar tool called avi2dvd. Once you’ve converted the video, use Toast (Mac) or Nero BurningROM (PC) to actually burn the DVD for playback. See videohelp.com for resources and detailed walkthroughs.
Cool, thanks. I’m a PC-er, any reccomendations on any free downloads?
I tried DVDFlick but my player is telling me the completed DVD is a ‘bad disc’
That’s strange. DVD Flick worked for my Toshiba, Panasonic and Pioneer players.
