What do you find beautiful in life?
I’m a little (a lot) in the dumps with my thinking after finding out about a suicide.
Care to brighten my thinking by sharing what makes the world so worth sticking around for you?
(I’m not feeling suicidal, just down, so please, no worries.)

My girlfriend and i have the EXACT same gpa. They lined up te last day of our senior year. We are going to both be the saludatorian. If thats not a sign from God, i dont know what is.
First off, I want to say that I’m so sorry…
What (who) do I find beautiful? People. The day to day interactions with people, be it friends, family, or people that you just met (chit chat with people that you meet on the street, while waiting in line, catching a cab, perhaps). Sharing stories..laughs. I just find people fascinating.
@jmah =) you’re right. maybe that’s why I came on fluther just now, I knew it was a beautiful place.
It is beautiful to make a connection with a thoughtful person like you. You are valuable to us and have touched us. Enough that we have responded. Life is a victory to be celebrated and so much is beautiful that I would need 1000 paragraphs.
I love beautiful days. Not very profound but yea.
I find my children beautiful. Spring is a wonderful time to find natural beauty. Today I saw a beautiful cardinal and incredible hydrangea. I find beauty in my Faith, and my love, and my sister.
The way your heart beats fast when you look at someone you love.
An ice cream cone on a hot day at the pier.
The love between a mother and her child.
Music and rhythm that makes you wanna jump.
The sky as the sun is just about to set, no sunset alike…
The stars all gleaming from galaxies away.
The mysteries of life..
The obvious things.
The way an old man looks at an old woman who have lived a long life together and you still feel the love coming off of them :) ^I say this because of my great grandparents^
Chocolate :D
>sorry I’m a hopeless romantic xD<
Things I find beautiful in life:
Unconditional love
Sunshine
A really good song
A cold beer on a hot day
I’m sorry for your loss. You’ve come to the right place for support.
A small child’s laughter is my favorite sound in the world and also the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. It’s just innocent and happy, carfree.
Small children, and their sense of wonderment.
How happy my dog is to see me when I come home.
Listening to live music, and wondering what musicians hear when they listen to music.
Sunsets.
My cats playing in the garden.
My daughters’ transitions into adulthood.
Dancing.
Having friends who care about you, and about each other.
A loud raspy grind on a skateboard.
Beautiful?
The fact people can change, learn and grow is the obvious answer that yells at me.
On a more personal level, everything that I can’t obtain. Everything that is so far off, or random that I can’t have in my life on a day to day basis. We often times find ourselves angry at the world; at things we cannot have or have had at one time and let go. I say it’s beautiful that we had a chance to experience such things, no matter how ephemeral the impression, how short lasting it might have been. So sweet is the taste of an orange, how happy we feel whilst eating it. We don’t cry when it we finish consuming it, we smile that we are fulfilled.
Mayhap a bit too romantic, I am.
:p
My children. Their laughter, watching them and just thinking about them is the most perfectly beautiful thing on earth
This question is beautiful. I really mean that.
Beyond that, there is so much beauty in life that it would be impossible to list them all here. An abundance of beauty… enough to make me cry sometimes.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Rainbows, music, animals, smiles, starry nights, friends, love, nature, colors, and a hundred other things I can’t bring to mind right now.
Soft animal fur, bright animal eyes, cold night air, slipslipslip of the water outside my window, the fact that I fixed my vacuum cleaner all by myself, my little granddaughter’s swaggering walk, my friends – including a long list who may or may not have physical bodies but definitely exist etherically on fluther
darling, you know what is beautiful:
all of it
smart to ask this question good question tell us your answers.
My wife.
My kids.
Nature.
Music.
Poetry.
Art.
Architecture.
Movies.
Too many things to list.
There are so many, that let me give you a few. These are the things I have come to appreciate after my latest bout with depression and near suicide.
Watching a spider build a web. People are so creeped out by spiders, but watching one of these creatures build an orb out of nothing but ‘thinner than a human hair’ strands is quite the engineering masterpiece.
Listening to the birds sing I have no idea what they are saying, but they are saying it with great joy at the tops of their little lungs.
The look in my dogs’ eyes when I come home from work If that isn’t love, then I am a monkey’s uncle.
The sound of a barred owl hooting nearby at 3 am Owls are so fascinating, and the range of calls they use are very cool. I love the way they call to each other and fill the night with their voices.
The smell of flowers For the past three days, the fragrance of the two lilac trees in my yard have been filling the house with their sweet bouquet. I feel as drunk as a honeybee on that scent right now.
The hiss my MHCs make when I disturb them They are so cute, and it always makes me grin and laugh when they hiss and scurry around as I fuss with them in their cage.
The touch of my wife’s hand on my arm or back, just to let me know she is near That is beyond words, and makes me happier than anything else in the world. Life is beautiful, and suicide is obviously a personal choice, but sometimes, it seems like a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
My kids smiles & laughter,
The way my daughter dances around the house,
watching my husband make our kids laugh,
when rays of sunshine stream down in broad swaths through the clouds it feels like someone in heaven sending a message of love,
when the ospreys fly low over the water early in the morning,
my peonies in bloom,
fall leaves,
friendship in all its forms
true, fine, love.
Smells can be awesome. A baby right after a bath. Sitting outside after a summer rain. A freshly cut lawn in the afternoon. A plumeria tree in the morning. A tomato plant on after watering it.
baby’s breath! xD so sweet
puppy breath ain’t to shabby either…
cats, ‘vintage’ things, the sky in the evening, stars on clear nights, the ocean, music that really hits you, people who are passionate about something or are just incredibly genuine.
my favorite moment of the last 18 years of my life happened 2 summers ago. It was a warm balmy night and i was driving around with my best friends. we were listening to jimmy eat world and the song Polaris came on (look it up!)
the friend driving grabed my hand and we rolled down the windows. it was the most beautiful night i have ever seen.
