All Playstation 2 games are not compatible with the Playstation 3.

Also, Sony is supposedly developing a work around to the problem. So just keep your eye out for any news regarding them fixing the issue.

P.S. there are some Playstation 3 units that are backwards compatible with Playstation 2 games, but they are quite expensive.

I’m pretty sure only the 80GB ps3 will play ps3, ps2 and ps1 games, but the 40GB will only play ps1 games on top of ps3 games.
