I don’t know! There are just so many! I find the one named “John” (that’s NOT Jon Stewart) you know, with the kind of wavy hair and british accent (?) to be pretty darn annoying
I think Samantha Bee is hilariously obnoxious. Sometimes, I have to turn away because I am so embarrassed by the things she asks and says.
Actually, I think Jon Stewart ruined that show. Craig Kilborn was better IMHO.
@La_chica_gomela I can’t stand that guy! he’s not even funny, but Steven Colbert was much worse. I do, however, really like Wyatt Cenac.
@Capt_Bloth: Gosh I almost forgot Colbert started as a Daily Show “correspondant”! yeah, he was pretty gosh darned obnoxious then, pretty much exactly like now…
The young kid. DiMitri something. They spun him off into a new show… did it last more than 3 episodes?
@La_chica_gomela Steve Carell was also on the show originally, but I like him after watching “Little Miss Sunshine”
There are a few that I think have sucked over the years. On the current roster, I hate Samantha Bea.
@SirBailey Kilborn was good, no doubt. But he left on his own. And really it’s a matter of opinion, i’d give Stewart the advantage (especially with all the experience he has now).
When Kilborn was there, TDS was just another evening talk show, no different than Late Night or Tonight Show or any others. John Stewart made The Daily Show what it is.
I would go with either Stephen Colbert or Steve Carell.
John Hodgman bugs the hell out of me. I winced when he guested on Battlestar Galactica.
Colbert. By far.
I always loved Beth Littleford though. She was absolutely deadpan when she was cutting to the bone.
Thats like asking ‘Whos the most evil of the Nazi elite?’
I don’t think he was a correspondent prior to being host, but I just found Craig Kilborn to be incredibly self-involved, smug, and smarmy so he was obnoxious in NOT a good way.
Colbert, on the other hand, is obnoxious in a good way cuz he is just so darned clever. I’m just a pushover for intelligence in a comic. Plus, on the show, he is playing a character who is also (sometimes confusingly) named Stephen Colbert. Kilborn was just being his smarmy, obnoxious self, IMHO.
That razor sharp intelligence is also why I like Stewart. He is so qick with the quip during lnterviews. He’s at his best when unscripted—reminds me a bit of Letterman that way.
Similar to what a previous poster said, I think he put TDS on the map because he gave it a focus (politics) and made it relevant. It’s not just all focused on him and propping him up the way it was with Kilborn.
I came across a real old interview with Colbert way before he had his own show. Not only was he with TDS with Stewart, he was also there when Kilborn was the host. I hadn’t known that prior to reading the interview. He contrasted the tenor of the show under Kilborn vs under Stewart. Obviously he wasn’t as blunt as I have been but it doesn’t take much to read between the liines.
I don’t know if I can find it, but if so, I’ll post the link.
