Can you still download clips from youtube?

Asked by Kiev749 (2092points) May 30th, 2009

I remember way back in the day that you used to be able to download clips from youtube. Can you still do that or will you need some crazy rediclious app to do it?

BTW the clip is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-0DXj2SrHs

Yes, you need an app. Get the Greasemonkey script for Firefox, and use this if you want to automatically convert HQ clips to use in your iPod/iPhone. without having to get another program to convert flv to mp4.

Downloadhelper only pulls the clip out in flv format. You’d need a conversion program after that.

Actually, I don’t need any download application to keep my favorite online vidz. (whether youtube or not)

Whenever I stumble upon a video that’s worth keeping, I only wait until it’s complete (probably watch it to the end), and then go to directory where temporary files are kept (’/tmp’ in Linux), and I find there, so I basically copy/paste it anywhere I want.

And now I can watch it anytime, anywhere! ;)

www.youtubeloader.com

loads the video and allows you to download as an .flv or .mp4

Neither the question nor the first four answers bothered to mention an operating system. (So I’m guessing all those people are Wintel users.)

Using Safari on Macintosh OS X, download a YouTube video with Command-Option-A to open the Activity window, double-click the list item that’s the biggest in size.
