Why can i only ask a few questions?
why am i limited to so few questions? I understand that they don’t want spammers, but hours I have to wait? Do you that have been using fluther for awhile have to wait to ask questions now that you are reputable?

They would like for questions to be thought out before asked. (My assumption)
The rationing is done democratically. No favorites or teacher’s pets here.
@gailcalled it’s done democractically, but it should also be done based off of privileges. Those who have been here the longest, shouldn’t have to deal with the waits, or at least shouldn’t have to wait as long. Again, I’m brand new, but how long do you have to wait?
I think you only get 3 a day, no matter who you are or how long you have been here.

@elijahmurray: The only ones who decide what should or should not happen are Ben and Andrew, the owners. What do you mean by “based off of privileges”?
Sorry, gotta morph into a Finn now.
There you guys go, talking dirty in a foreign language again.
@gailcalled
Democratically? You mean it was put to a public vote and is continually re-examined?
@gailcalled I mean that those with higher star things should get more questions per day. Eller hur? Vad tycker ni? (That’s me morphing into a Swede)
[mod says] All members are given the same question allowance. It varies from time to time, depending on the overall number and quality of questions asked on any given day.
@elijahmurray:Inte ge oss ledtrådar. Det tar bort det roliga.
(Till protokollet, Milo är Kungliga katt på fluther.)
@Ivan: All of us (members) are treated equally…the good, the bad and the idiotic have the same number of questions allotted daily.
Here comes the judge mod.

@Ivan then why is that not in English? :D
@Ivan Gail probably meant to say that the rationing is egalitarian, which you may or may not have figured out. Either way, that’s the system. It is a very simple way to prevent one person (or a group) from flooding the site and for forcing people to choose high-quality questions.
Of course, this probably will get me into loads of trouble with Gail, but just this once I’m going to risk it.
Everyone has limited questions because this is supposed to be a resource that you ask when you have a question, not a place where you come and dump fifty questions at once. You would take up the entire front page if you did, and that’s not fair at all to any other member.
What if, even if you’ve reached the limit, if a certain period of time passes after the last question is posted, that window opens up? It seems, on Sundays especially, the last question posted sits there forever. I wonder if opening the window for everyone (even those reaching the limit) would minimize that. I don’t think it’s a good thing when the last question posted sits there for an eternity.
@SirBailey: Eternity is a really long time. And in addition to fluther, there are other things to do on Sundays, like laundry or walking outside, (particularly if you have been knighted.)
Shilolo; You are right; “egalitarian” is a much better word choice than “democratic.” Either way, the point seems to be obvious, at least to some of use.
(Interesting that mods have let, so far, the Finnish, Slovak, and Swedish remain.)
(Edited by me: I thought “knighted” was something to do with Fluther)
And you’re right. I’m surprised to see those posts remain also.
@elijahmurray Dude, chill. In life as in Fluther, it is better to test the temperature of the water and and locate the deep end of the pool before you try making a big splash.
[mod says] Sorry to the Fins/Swedes, but non-English comments were removed for being “insider-only” comments.
@shilolo: No one actually believed that we know how to write in Finnihs, Swedish, Slovakian or other exotic languages, did they? Anyone can do it. (.Ja Meillä oli hauskaa.)
Here’s the trick; http://www.google.com/ig
@gailcalled In your case, I believe anything is possible.
