Nah. What’s the point?

a better question might be how better to deal with such threatened countries. the us government is not the enemy or more general threat in this mad world.

Lots of governments threaten other governments. Besides, who would you suggest do the censoring? The U.N.? The New World Order? Aliens from outer space?

wundayatta's avatar

Yeah. Anyone who ever makes a threat should be censored. I like @Darwin‘s alien idea. Let the aliens do the censoring. We can go blithely on, feeling unthreatened.

What the hell kind of question is this?

“Constant threat” is a little harsh. Economical and political pressure are tools that many states use some times. I guess you mean military threats. I don’t agree to that the US is making that kind of threats often.

Who exactly do you propose would do this censoring?

Furthermore, how could you say this when North Korea is saying what they’re saying now?

What governments are you talking about? Texas? Mississippi? According to them, yes, the U.S. Government should be censUred (if not censOred). As for the rest of the world, Venzuela, Iran, N. Korea, etc. – Nuke ‘em if they can’t take a joke. When you’re the big dog, you get to bare your teeth whenever you want to.

@daloon I agree with darwin too. The aliens should do it. The USA government threatens everyone. External governments and internal governments as well. The real danger is the responses when a government like Iran or North Korea have to take the threats seriously. Iran has much to fear. North Korea has it’s own people to fear but it also has paranoid rulers and a person with that disorder has to take action. If you have even a little paranoia you know that when someone threatens you you start taking defensive actions. What can you expect form North Korea. Defensive reactions.
Our government is creating the North Korea threat. I can only assume that it is on purpose because Korea is totally predictable.
I really think our government should shut up and get it’s troops out of there.
Without our threat Korea would have to deal with it’s people.

I am in shock. @walterallenhaxton agrees with me about something (even though he seems to have missed the point).

@Darwin There are no governments that do not threaten. The only ones that can censor them are the people and the press. I would love for one of the networks to stop covering the federal government for a while. That would be interesting to listen to.

astrocom's avatar

@walterallenhaxton: My god, what would they cover then? Have you seen the stuff that’s on the news besides the government? The only things I can bear paying attention to during the news is that and international reporting, and if you removed the US government from that, I have sincerely doubt that the increase would be on the side of International news.

Darwin's avatar

@astrocom – I suspect we would get a lot more gossip about who is dating who and who has cellulite in Hollywood.

astrocom's avatar

@Darwin: Indeed, and that’s a terrifying prospect.

walterallenhaxton's avatar

@astrocom Maybe a good movie for a change. I prefer to be entertained by the best. Not by talking idiots anyway.

astrocom's avatar

@walterallenhaxton: maybe, also, check Fluther etiquette. I know it gets ignored often, but we were doing so well here. Just a helpful suggestion.
And yea the talking heads are useless. Mostly because they’re basically “experts” on having opinions, though, not because politics is a waste of time. (Which is a clarification, I don’t think you’re actually saying that.)

walterallenhaxton's avatar

@astrocom I wish that it was far less important than it is. News is something you watch because it effects your life in ways that you would rather not worry about. Some people like sports and others do business. I am not talking about that. Of course crime is important but crime that occurs 1000 miles away is not but we hear about it anyway.

astrocom's avatar

@walterallenhaxton: Well, to be honest, we shouldn’t have to worry about crime or various things affecting other countries; we should be electing people who understand that for us (or are smart enough to listen to people who understand it for them), but because the average voter has been tricked/allowed to think their understanding of policy and the effects it has are good enough to elect politicians based on how similar said politician’s views are to their own; so now voters should be informed about everything that affects policies and vice versa, in order to actually vote responsibly. It’d be easier to elect people who are accountable and competent, but no, we chose the hard way. * grumbles and continues endless political research *

Darwin's avatar

@walterallenhaxton – Isn’t that why we have 200+ channels these days? Just stick with TMC and you shouldn’t have to see a talking head ever again.

Well, unless they show this movie or this one .

It is called “freedom of choice” and is part of the American way of life.

walterallenhaxton's avatar

@Darwin I don’t have a TV, Why should I buy one to not see talking heads? All I have to do is not go to news sites.

Darwin's avatar

@walterallenhaxton – You say “I would love for one of the networks to stop covering the federal government for a while.” How would you know if they had or not if you don’t watch television and plan not to go to news sites online?

You also say “Maybe a good movie for a change. I prefer to be entertained by the best. Not by talking idiots anyway.” How do you plan to watch a good movie if you don’t have a TV? Do you only watch movies on your computer? Why would it matter to you how many talking heads there are if you never watch any?
