Why is the Facebook so popular?

I joined to access a recommended discussion group for Tim Tang Test, but now I use it mostly for poker and for infrequent contact via and photo viewing of my wired relatives’ profiles.

I use Facebook to follow people and groups I’m interested in. The two main features of the site are the News Feed, which shows you what all the people or groups that you’re following are up to, and the Profile, where you get to express things about yourself (which, in turn, show up in your friends’ News Feeds).

Facebook differentiated itself from the other major social networking web sites (MySpace, LinkedIn, Bebo, and Friendster) by being the first to release a development platform, so that third parties could create small applications (widgets) that users could add to their profiles. This vastly increased the degree to which users could be engaged in the site.

I use The Facebook for the same reason I use The Internets… it’s a magic series of tubes.

I think it’s the automatic friend getting emails. I got an email that says somebody had added me as a friend on Facebook. I didn’t realize I had a Facebook account. I clicked the link and found that I was unwittingly signing up. I thought, “Meh! oh well.”

Later I was checking to find my own friends on my new account by entering my email and email’s password. I clicked on the button that invites all my imported contacts to Facebook. They all got the same letter that herded me in.

Another important point, I’ve never had to code in HTML to become a zombie or Superpoke somebody.

Facebook’s code is beautiful, and flawless. Well…maybe not flawless, but it sure beats myspace’s

Online Scrabble online Scrabble! A lot of the applications are DUMB but a few are awesome (see above). It also makes it really easy to share my photos with friends.

i use it to connect with my friends that live far away, that i can’t always talk to on the phone. it’s a bit more convenient than email, because all i need to know is their name to find them. and it’s much, MUCH better than myspace or other sites because it is just more organized.

I got facebook because my friends had asked me to. the idea of it is nice but myspace is ripping most of its features lol

I got a facebook account the same way I got my myspace account. Because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I don’t use them much except to talk to a couple of friends in other states.
