My phone is also an MP3 player, but I have an idiot when it comes to this stuff. I haven’t even tried to use it. I am interested in listening to books on it while exercising.

Do you mean legitimate downloads, or illegal ones?
Librivox contains a lot of free to download audio books read by volunteers. Of course, they can only read public domain content. But it’s worth its price!
Legitimate. I should have been more specific.
There are tons of good free MP3 podcasts for many non-fiction topics. For novels it’s different. But there are many (used) audio books you get for $20 and less.
I get audiobooks from the public or university library and temporarily copy them to my ipod. I always remove them later! But it’s great because downloading new ones is soooo pricey.
