Apparently I should be drinking 60 ounces. I don’t drink any water :( Maybe about 8oz a day, if I’m at work. Dang.

Enough so you are not feeling thirst.

70 ounces of water a day!!!
that’s insane. I tired casheroo’s link
I’ve tried drinking the recommended about of water daily, but after 2 days of it, I had swollen up like a balloon and gotten sick.
It’s important to stay hydrated, esp. as it gets hotter, but don’t go overboard.

the main reason I’m asking is because of my skin issues and I have very-very-very busy crazy schedule, I have XS,S kind of body

@oksana_bm I have a small body frame as well and I rarely drink water…it’s super unhealthy though, and I get dehydrated very easily. What skin issues are you having?

oksana_bm's avatar

face!!! acne!!! and what I see is what I eat today is on my face tomorrow, just a little of soda or ketchup is a big deal for me.also my skin is very sensitive, I can’t use any toner or soap, it hurts… burning….

Have you ever tried Cetaphil?

oksana_bm's avatar

no, not yet. I almost never use make up, so after my not very good experiences with clean&clear, Olay, Dove, Avene, Nivea, Givanchy, Obagi, I just don’t know what to try…

What some folks don’t realize is that a lot of the food you eat provides your body with water. Once you know how much water is in your food, and you’d be surprised to learn how much it really is, then you can drink a couple glasses of water to keep yourself hydrated.

The whole eight glasses of water a day theory is wrong, and has been proven wrong by scientific studies. Drink enough that you feel hydrated, and no more.

One way to tell how dehydrated you are is to look at the color of your urine. If it’s dark amber, you need to drink more water; if it’s pale yellow, you’re doing well.

Eight glasses a day is probably too much, but eight ounces a day is certainly too little. It’s difficult to over-hydrate.

Careful about this. I took a human physiology class in college. My professor explained that there are a lot of myths that go around about the amount of water one should consume in a day. The idea that we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day has been around for quite some time and is the predominant answer to this question. However there is little science behind this answer. We also must consider what size of glass they are referring to.

You also must remember that water comes from many sources and most of those sources do count towards your water consumption. Such as food and juices. Something like soda would not count however. And remember it is possible to overhydrate but that is hard to do. So stay safe and listen to your body.

If you carry around a water bottle your body will signal you how much water you need. When it is readily available like that you will find yourself sipping on it all day when needed.

Having said that it is healthy to drink at least 32 oz of pure water a day. So you should start there. If you feel like you aren’t getting enough then bump it up. But this is a good minimum standard and is quite easy to accomplish.
