Who else knows the August 27th mars will be bright in the night sky is fake ?

My mother forwarded me the Mars story a few weeks ago. Since I am in the habit of checking Snopes for anything Mom sends, it took me only a few minutes to discover that she had forwarded yet another hoax: http://www.snopes.com/science/astronomy/brightmars.asp

I doubt very many people would have remembered it anyways.

You have to have dropped out in the first grade to believe this for longer than it took for someone to say it to you.

That belief would require a very profound misunderstanding of basic astronomy.
