The best one I have found is last.fm
@creativejuices I would listen to it more often if I had a decent download limit, but I need to be careful with what I stream to make sure it doesn’t go over the limit. I basically only use it to find new music when I tire of what I have.
I’ll go with the heavyweights of music blogs. Stereogum (Which has a large collection of free mp3’s) and Pitchfork.
And Pandora Radio is better than last.fm’s radio function for suggesting new music.
Pandora. Absolutely the best.
Last.Fm & Pandora are amazing and I listen to them daily.
But I also wanted to know about the music blogs, specifically the ones who offer a few mp3s to sample. Because those few songs are usually amazing and they make me want to go out and buy the entire album. The ones that I mentioned, stereogum and pitchfork have mp3s to download.
I love thesixtyone.com and pandora. Also iTunes has a just for you section if you don’t mind paying them…
@creativejuices Out of curiosity, what are some good new bands/songs you’ve found?
Nice! I really like the Le Loup song.
@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities: but to specifically answer your question, just a few of the are:
Ben Sollee
M83
Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
Animal Collective
The Presets
The Cinematic Orchestra
Annuals (only one I have seen live – they are awesome!)
Ill Lit
Menomena
White Rabbits
Electric President
Dntel
The Cool Kids
Muscles
…......... ah I could keep going and going but there are so many more that I have discovered through blogs
Ah. Last.fm. You should join the Fluther Group.
Here’s my last.fm if you’d like to see it.
And White Rabbits kick ass.
@dverhey I joined!! I am looking forward to seeing all of the eclectic music tastes on Fluther!
My favorite website is TheSixtyOne.Com.
Such a great website for music.
Some of the music thaere can also be downloaded for free!
If you’re interested, please don’t hesitate to visit my page there and listen to my collection (nickname: LoopHole87).
I love Blip.fm. You can use it to send links to songs in Twitter and other social media very easily. Also, it is way easier to pick and choose than I have found on other sites like Last.fm.
Seriously, you can’t even do that on other sites but you can easily link it to Last.fm and others and choose your favorite DJs to play like stations (sort of like on Pandora)
