Dust yourself off and...trying again/3rd time's a charm...will you tell me about a time you did it right the 2nd/3rd time around?

it could be anything…what was something you didn’t give up on…a passion, a person, a school…

I’m enrolled in college for the third time now. Hopefully, I’ll get through it this time.

Like you, I think I got marriage right the second time. The first time, I married quite young (19). It lasted for 17 years, probably 3 or 4 years longer than it should have. My second husband and I are both fully formed people, and seem to be perfect for one another. Yay!

I will tell you about when I was trying to learn how to do a back tuck. I had already known how to do a back handspring. I had been doing BHS for nearly a year. After a couple of weeks I managed to start landing backtucks. I had finally landed a couple perfectly only to decide to do one more and face planted on the ground…HARD!!!!! My face was completely scraped. Got back up, shook it off, mended my wounds for about 10 minutes; then went right back and did another backtuck. I landed the next two perfectly. Yes it was scary as hell, but if I didn’t try again I probably never would have ever done it again.

Marriage, 2nd time around – way better! That’s not what I’m going with, though.

I’m going with water skiing. I learned in Florida, where I am convinced that all people can ski from birth, except me. I was with a church youth group, we started skiing at 9am, I went 3rd. I learned that I could drink half the lake, in less than 5 minutes. 2nd time, I successfully got that down to 3 minutes. 3rd time, well, I don’t really remember the 3rd time. I’ll skip to the time when I finally got it. About 3 weeks later, another boat, another try…that was 15 tries, in one day and never getting up on the skis.

This poor guy, he had me out there for half a day…but I finally did it. I stood on the skis. I had so much fun. I laughed and laughed. l am sure the guy was so happy, too. That meant we were finished!

Not always the 3rd time, either. 25+ tries and I finally got it.
