Why does almost every question somehow become a conversation at the end?
like in the beginning it’ll be related to the question and then about 10 answers later you see people basically talking to each other

Because all possible answers have been posted.
I always thought that was one of the unique features of this site :)
you get subjective answers and a conversation going.
It is a social site. People see the question, possibly have an opinion, then see that someone else has responded in the way that they were intending to do.
We could start now if you’d prefer.
This is one of the things I love about Fluther.
You get your well thought-out answers, some snark, and a little chit chat at the end.
Because the fluther gods have decreed that we can only ask three questions a day, so we have to find other ways to spend our time.
@applesausemanny Does it bother you that it becomes a conversation or is this just an observation?
@YARNLADY Shhhh! Don’t anger the Fluther Gods, lest ye want to be smited.
@chyna it’s just an observation :)
Because the chat room sucks.
This is not unique to fluther. Humans are social creatures.
When I first came here, I was continually told that this site did not tolerate side-banter and social questions, and I was told that this was the reason why Fluther was such a great site.
No one else seems to be there when I pop in, but there is usually activity out here with the Q’s
@eponymoushipster….I just tried to enter and they wouldn’t let me…its either closed or full…..I’d say it sucks! Hey, where did everyone go?? Let me in the chat room guys…its lonely out here!!!
Don’t they start as conversations?
@The_Compassionate_Heretic Some people think so, but if the first answer is not an actual answer to the question, it will be moderated.
@YARNLADY @whatthefluther We’re not here to talk to ourselves. Interaction on any level constitutes conversation.
As for why questions devolve into idle chat that’s totally off topic, that point marks when the thread is over. That’s about as good of a “why” I can provide.
I have no idea what you’re talking about but has anyone seen the price of gas? It just keeps going up. I mean it just seems like last month it was 2 dollars a gallon. And what’s up with those Laker fans? Do we have to burn a city every time a team wins? And what happened to global warming? It just keeps raining in the Northeast. Oh and those new thingies at Taco Bell? Those are tasty.
@eponymoushipster…Well now, that would explain a lot! Note to self: cancel all psychologist appointments!
@SeventhSense You just wish your city had a team worth rioting over.
Oh crap… now I’m doing it.
@Ivan I think they changed the rules at the end of March
@eponymoushipster….I guess I did have the wrong address. Plus I’m scared to death to make left turns so frequently find myself circling nowhere and never seem to reach my desired destination. But, I’m easily amused and very tangential.
@eponymoushipster….OK, I’m in denial. Note to self: Reschedule and double up all Psychologist appointments.
@The Compassionate Heretic
We need Lebron. We should trade the Brooklyn Bridge for that guy.
@chyna…That figures…@sccrowell must be in the chat room and I can’t even find the right door!
@SeventhSense Lakers would be good with LeBron.
#23 has LA written all over him.
Ok, I was just in the chat room and she isn’t in there and it is really dead.
@eponymoushipster….See @eh…it’s not just me @chyna…sure you have the right address…..maybe we’re circling nowhere together
Saw Andrew and PNL in there. They must be lost too.
Where the hell did that monkey go anyhow? Must be a better conversation on a different question. Let’s explore, shall we?
the lack of attendees does not imply suckage. last monday night it was packed. comes and goes.
Caffeine just kicked out, turning in.
@SeventhSense Gotta feel for the Knicks a little bit. Patrick Ewing deserved a ring.
LeBron in NY would be scary. Mostly because his salary would be $1,000,000,000/yr for a 5 year deal.
@whatthefluther I’ve just been so mad throughout this day, everyone has been blaming things on me even they weren’t my fault but that’s just today I’m optimistic about tomorrow
Chat room is not dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop using the wrong link and come visit me in there already. We are discussing which fluther member should be banned next.
Just kidding.
@applesaucemanny…It probably just seemed that way. But that’s a good outlook for tomorrow. How the music coming on those wonderful lyrics you wrote?
Beautiful lyrics….keep working at the music….I think you’ll have a winner!
OK, time out for me…sccrowell just handed me some pizza…..what a minute…this aint pizza…there’s pineapple on this thing…geez
@SeventhSense Oh yeah for real there. I watched him and the Rockets in the finals. John Starks was bugging me with his shooting. Robert Horry was on that Rockets team who later went on to Laker glory. Miss Robert Horry. That guy brought lots of trophies.
I think people stay semi-related to the topic. Like in this one – where people are making fun of the question, or exaggerating the subject matter of the question; they are still being true to the question.
