I would love to hear your arguments for how Bill Hicks and Neil Peart are heroes for truth, peace and progress. Heroes for comedy and kick-ass rock and roll drumming? Yes. Heroes for truth, peace and progress? Sell me.
My candidate for a hero for truth, peace and progress that deserves to be better known is Blake Mycoskie, founder of Toms Shoes.
@lloydbird Already there, but you still need to do the selling.
If you begin by giving the arguments for the folks you nominate, it might give others a better starting point.
@SuperMouse Ok,briefly; regarding Neil Peart (Lyricist/Author),are yooz familiar with the Rush album – Power Windows?.
As for Bill Hicks….You need to ask?.
@lloydbird I am more of a classic Rush girl myself, you know 2112 and back. I am somewhat familiar with Bill Hicks’ comedy, but I would still like to hear your arguments that both of them are heroes for peace, truth and progressiveness.
@mammal You probably know that Chomsky is one of John Pilgers’ heroes?
Paul Robeson… interesting and extremely accomplished fellow. Big fighter for social justice, at all costs. Check him out.
Lyall Watson. For all his books and his sumo commentary of the early 90’s.
Perry Farrell (Peretz Bernstein).Lead singer of Jane’s Addiction. For buying 2300 Sudanese slaves in order to free them. Also check out the song True Nature.
John Michell. For all his books and for himself.
@lloydbird and Bill Hicks who described himself as Chomsky with Dick Jokes or something similar :)
