Are there any manuals or podcasts that teach how to make an iPhone App?

I think building an app is something interesting to try out.
I heard that there’s a podcast from iTunes that has been subscribed to a lot and is very simple. Maybe it’s an iTunes U class actually. I forget the name of this series of recordings though.
Can anyone provide resources on how to build an app?

Keep in mind that you need to know objective-C. If you don’t know what that is you have a long road ahead of you.
And you need a Mac to develop for the iPhone. The developer tools only work on a Mac.
This is the course on iTunes U you have heard of I think:
http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs193p/ The link to iTunes is down the bottom of the page.
I have found it very good, good intro to Obj-C and iPhone development in general.
As johnpowell said above, knowing obj-c will help more, but I started it with no Obj-C knowledge and found the first couple of project gave a me a good feel and understanding of the syntax and things. However I do know other programming languages and I work as a software developer so that helped a lot. You would probably struggle without any background programming knowledge.
I sort of remember sometime in the first lecture they go over what you should know at the start.
