Are there any resources to check for spikes of pregnancy, death, etc. relating to New Years Eve celebrations?

Asked by Spargett (5398points) December 31st, 2007

I know most people don’t plan for it to happen, but things like New Years Eve must fuel a significant amount of negligence leading to accidental death (i.e. DUIs), unplanned pregnancies, STD, etc. This has always fascinated me and I’d love to know of any resources that would be able to demonstrate the effects in numbers.

Birth statistics would be the easiest to verify… and I know anecdotally that the first few days of October have extremely high birthrates, so, go figure…

Huge spike in birth rates after the NYC blackouts and power outages, FWTW.
