Surf on the north shore, it’s where I learned. Amazing. Something like “goofyfoot surf studio” is great.”
Take a dawn van ride to the top of the volcano, then bike ride the entire way down. This is also a tour thing… and you have to get up at 4 AM, but it’s pretty rad to see the sunrise atop a volcano.
I’d also say to get up early for the sunrise at the top of Haleakala, and the bike ride down is a BLAST – a little scary when thinking about it, but so much fun.
Also, take a part of a day for driving the road to Hana, and make sure you stop every time you’d like to along the way.
There’s also great food in the town of Paia, along Baldwin Ave / Rt. 390. (Fresh Mint – # 115 – is seriously one of the best vege restaurants I have even been to, and well worth the wait).
Have fun!
If you are into spas——the Spa at the Grand Wailea is amazing. The tubs and showers are the best I have experienced, as is the sugar scrub.
Do the Skyline Eco Zipline Tour on Haleakala
I did this tour last June with my wife and father in-law and loved it! The views of from up country Maui are incredible and you learn about the ecology on Haleakala. And the guides are fun.
I would also recommend checking out the Old Lahaina Luau a great cultural experience.
Play golf in Kapalua on one of the three great golf courses.
I also second doing the road to Hana. Well worth the trip.
Good Luck!
