Is Michael Bay a racist?

I’ve been hearing people saying that Michael Bay is racist for how he portrayed two of his robots in the new Transformers movies. Some people also said that he has done it in other movies. I don’t want to get into a whole philosophical argument, just wanted to see what others thought about it.

Just because he sucks ass as a filmmaker doesn’t mean he’s racist.
It doesn’t mean he isn’t either. But he does, totally, suck ass.
Now that we’ve firmly established that @filmfann thinks that Michael Bay sucks ass (totally), no, I don’t think he’s a racist.
@applesaucemanny. Um, no. And you don’t even know me so you have no basis for fact, at all, with that statement. And all this back and forth is derailing the thread. You can PM me if you’d like to continue second guessing me as a person and talking about this though.
@Bluefreedom I was just assuming, but I’ll take your word for it
That’s quite an assumption. Having not seen Transformers, what on his films gives that impression?
@The_Compassionate_Heretic – Two of the minor robot characters who speak in Ebonics and jive, apparently can’t read and look like monkeys are given a lot of screen time to play out the minstrelsy. And Tom Kenny did the voices! So disappointed in Tom. I’d expect better from him. :(
@applesaucemanny – That’s a huge assumption to say that everyone has been “a little” racist at some point in time.
You know, my husband took my son to see this and has been reading about this – a bit ridiculous, in his opinion.
@cak Yeah. I saw it, and not once did I think it was racist. It seems that out of most of my friends, the non-black ones are the people making the biggest deal about it. I didn’t notice until people started bringing it to my attention.
My sister saw it (I have my standards) and she said she was shocked by how racist this movie is.
@applesaucemanny I want to apologize for the fact that people are jumping down your throat for your comment…clearly no one else looking at this thread has ever seen Avenue Q, which is a shame, and I whole-heartedly agree with you…although it does depend on people’s definition of racism (if we’re using the definition implied in the song then DEFINITELY true).
@hitomi yeah which is why I posted the link to the video on my first post
