Fluther [/‘flʌ ðɚ/]
FLUH-thir
I pronounce it like the word “other” except with an F and an L at the front.
I pronounce it Fluth-thur with the accent on the first part, and almost like one would say Fluffer, except with a very soft TH sound.
I pronounce it [kuh-lek-tiv] because [/‘flʌ ðɚ/] has too many weird symbols that hurt my mouth when I try and say it that way.
I realize it is supposed to rhyme with mother, but wouldn’t the way you pronounce it still depend on which country you are from? It would be pronounced differently in the UK, Australia, USA, etc. Maybe we need to come up with a universal pronunciation.
Rhymes with mother. Period.
To my American ear, the “er” sounds like “uh” when spoken by a British person. Sort of like the way it is often said in America when referring to the second kind of mother @jbfletcherfan mentioned.
