Why does my cat insist on sleeping on my feet?

Asked by Jude (32204points) June 30th, 2009

It doesn’t matter where I move to on bed; I wake up and he’s sleeping on my feet. Even when it’s hot out.

Your cat seems to have a foot fetish.

Why do your feet insist on being under your sleeping cat?

I’m gonna go with warmth on this one.

To show that you are his (or hers).

Also, be careful what you wish for. I have had several cats who insisted on sleeping right next to my head.

Right next to your head? Try on.

Because you won’t let him sleep on your head.

Either that, or he loves the smell.

I don’t know, but my cat does it, too. Usually my husband’s – probably because he never moves at night. Sometimes mine, though she prefers under the cover behind my knees. If our daughter is in our bed, she is always on her feet. When she is feeling brave, she goes to daughter’s bed and sleeps on them.

I think it must be warmth or affection because she will go to other parts of the body, but feet seem to be her preference.

Some cats sleep near or on there owners to show affection. Does your cat ever sit with you and request you to pet her?

@angelic_fire_hazzard55555 Yes, he does. Most times when I sit down, he jumps on my lap and demands to be petted.

This would be the little shit. ;-)
