Classic or cult movies is how I would describe them, I guess.
They are all movies made in the early 80’s intended for adolescent audiences.
Yeah, they’re classic teen movies, except for The Goonies. That one was more for a tweenie crowd.
Teen classics, and frankly, some of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
Almost all of those movies you listed are excellent classic movies that were directed and/or written and/or produced by John Hughes and adding to that list, also by him, are these great ones here:
Some Kind of Wonderful
Weird Science
Home Alone
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Vacation
Mr. Mom
She’s Having a Baby
I’d say young adult/drama.
Don’t forget Sixteen Candles.
@chelseababyy. Damn, I forgot one of his best movies in my list. Thanks for including that. =)
The kind of movies where no one is bludgeoned to death… a popular them of this generation. XD (waits for the nit-picky folks to say something about the dead guy in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
I wouldn’t call them classic movies (but maybe each generation has a different set of classic movies); I like the term syz used, “coming of age” movies. When they were made, that group of actors were called the “brat pack” a play on the “rat pack” of Sinatra, Martin and Sammy Davis. As people have said, a major connection is that most of them were made by John Hughes.
Classic 80’s is what instantly came to my mind.
Mostly because it made me feel the least old!
