Do you think it's less serious when a woman hits or slaps a man?

In this case, I have no clue what was going on. He might have slept with her sister, or whatever.

That doesn’t mean shit, though. It isn’t any less or more serious, regardless of gender.

Though men are typically physically stronger than women. They have much more of a chance of seriously harming them.

I suppose it all boils down to how much damage is done.

I’ll also point out that momma always told me not to hit a lady. Rest assured, however – you slap me, and I’m pushing you to the ground, making you look like a fool.

EDIT: Legion of women on Fluther, please don’t come after me and chop off my nibblets. My reasoning is this – if you are that brazen to strike someone (man or woman), be prepared to suffer the consequences. I’d never hurt a woman, but I will embarrass you. If anything, I ain’t looking like an ass so you can prove a point.

Absolutely not. A woman striking a man is just as serious.

It’s a double-standard. Women want equal rights as men, but they don’t want equal penalties. That woman had it coming. Not only was that a hard slap she delivered to him, but on public television. That’s humiliating.

No – but movies and television seem to portray it that way.

Male or female; you shouldn’t hit anybody.

Unless, of course, it’s in self-defense. Then, by all means, kick the livin’ shit out of them.

Domestic abuse is not acceptable in any form.
Might I add, what a pussy bitch the guy in the video is. “How can she slap me! **cries**

I forget what special on HBO though.

Ah, yeah. I remember seeing that – that was the one where he had that fugly silver suit, I think.

Kanye had a line similar in one of his songs, though.

One human harming another is never acceptable to me.

TabernakAttack's avatar

@Grisaille I’m just saying he did it wrong in the reality show clip :P.

On a side note, it sounds like he’s getting the crap kicked out of him in the back and he’s crying in the end.

no i dont think its worse for either to do it, but there seems to be some big stereotype around domestic abuse (maybe not everyone but a hell of a lot of people i know)
i remember reading this thing (one of them) where this woman had decided to knock her husband out with a bit of wood or something and yeah she went a bit crazy, but the point is it was harder for him to get ‘help’ or ‘taken seriously’ or whatever they said, because of all the stereotype that it is worse for men to hit women…

No. Of all the male tendencies women should not take on, violence is the worst. We need less violence in our world, not more.

Why does it matter who a woman is assaulting? It is still assault. What about the girl-on-girl teen violence? Do you think that is less serious? I don’t.

There is a clear pattern of escalation when people (does not matter gender) start being violent.

Well this is a perfect carryover from this question.
And again, I guess that there are of course exceptions.
