Going to Lollapalooza and we need a place to stay (near Grant Park). Know of any hotels that are afforable, yet, half decent in that area?

Sorry, I have no useful advice to give you, but I’m curious. What is Lollapalooza?
They’re still doing that? Cool.
I live in the Chicago suburbs and I’m here to tell you that you DON’T want to stay in any hotel in Chicago that is affordable, because they are rats nests.
On the other hand check the last minute deals you get on Priceline ~and no this is not William Shatner~ I was able to get a room at the Swiss Hotel one weekend for $60/night!
and I’m totally jealous
@jmah: I live here, so I haven’t stayed at any of the hotels, but I will say that you don’t need a place right near the park. Get somewhere near a train line (the el or L, not the metro). The trains will get you there quickly and cheaply (especially if you get a 3 day or week long pass). And you can go anywhere else on them!
I like the Hotel Blake.
And as prev. mentioned, the El (or the bus) gets you downtown efficiently, so you don’t have to stay in the Loop.
City Inns has three boutique hotels on the North Side. Last time I put someone up I found a good deal for the Willow at Reservetravel.com
@EmpressPixie You’re from the chicagoland area? question, i’m coming to chicago in sept for a cubs game. i was planning on parking at the skokie swift station and taking the trian in but i’m going to stay over night. can you park overnight at that station?
No clue, but if there is parking, you can probably stay overnight. I was living in downtown Chicago at the time, so I had no experience with Skokie.
Great time was had by all. It was hawt and muggy. The music was good, food fabulous and the city—fun fun. Parking is a bitch, though (can be expensive). Ended up going to Lolla, Russian Tea Time (had Latkes, Russian Dumplings and Horseradish Vodka (NOM!), Harry Carry’s and the Chicago Art Institute.
