It’s a wait-and-see for me. There is a netbook in my future, but I will likely go with Linux unless Chrome can really wow me. Being a Unix hack for close to 30 years, they’re going to have to do a lot of wowing.
Not exactly excited, but interested. When a newcomer steps their game up, the others usually do to. Hopefully the competition from another source (besides linux) will make Microsoft consider working more on a slimmed down netbook OS.
If this google OS look and feels as nice as Android, I could see myself buying a google netbook.
Nope. I have the good fortune of working from home on my quad-core beast and can’t imagine ever owning a netbook. Even my fairly decent laptop only gets used about once a month. So unless Google creates something that entirely changes history (something that is so profound and revolutionary that it replaces both Mac and Windows operating systems), this doesn’t change anything.
This is just one more unix-based platform for tech geeks to amuse ourselves with.
It makes a lot of sense for google, I’m interested to see what they do. And opensource is a good thing.
I wasn’t impressed with the google phone. We’ll have to wait and see if their venture here is more successful. I’m pretty ambivalent about it.
