I’m a fan of a few more obscure series myself, mostly Demon Diary and Vampire Game, although I’m not good at judging age-appropriateness! I started reading them at about 16, maybe… Maybe someone else will chip on that.

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu is definitely one of the funniest anime I have seen in a long while. It’s only 12 episodes long, but you might want to watch the first part, Full Metal Panic. Fumoffu is kind of a between seasons thing, but is still definitely worth watching, even if you’ve never watched FMP.

I really suggest Gravitation. I loved that when I was about your age.

I know you said “no yaoi” but Gravitation is strongly focused on the characters and you don’t see ANY sexual stuff…not even make out stuff. You only see a kiss and that’s it. The characters are SO endearing and funny, and it’s very memorable.

Elfen Lied is def worth a watching if you can stomach it. best I’ve seen in a while.

OH, and check out His and Her Circumstances. It’s a beautiful anime and very well done. It has to do with high school students so judging by your choice of animes, I think you’d enjoy it.

Air is also good too.

Uhm, I can’t think of anything else. Everything else that’s coming to mind is gory/hentai/violent and while I enjoy them, I don’t think you would. :(

@ragingloli Ghost in the Shell for a 13 year old? They discuss philosophy, morality, sociology and theoretical politics in that show fairly fairly regularly no?
I would suggest most films by Studio Ghibli and the Full Metal Alchemist series if you have yet to watch it. Also I second Cowboy Bebop. Very entertaining.

@Nially_Bob It’s my third or so go-around with Ghost in the Shell SAC, and I feel I still have a lot more appreciating to do.

@FujiokaHaruhi192 if all this discussion of Ghost is intriguing, try testing out the series with one of the Stand Alone episodes (the ones dealing with the plotline are “Complex” episodes), especially episode 12 about Miki and the Tachikoma, or the episode called “Missing Hearts”, which is a great introduction to the Major (the Major is the main character of all Ghost movies and series).

Ohaky thankyou wildpotato I apreciate it and I watched the stand alone complex on tv a while ago. I’m usually pretty good at picking up complex storylines, I don’t think that ghost in the shell is too bad…but thankyou very much for the tip, perhaps I’ll find I’ve missed alot. :)

you really should watch full moon wo sagashite, its sad at points but is also funny, theres something like 52 eps, but they stop in dub on ep 28 but then have english subs. its really good, im still watching it, its really worth watching. you should try it out!
