For two years JP has been a flutherite whose wit and knowledge have contributed volumes to Fluther. He is one of the few Flutherites who, if I saw him composing , I would wait to read his response.
Here is to you JP! May you find great happiness and joy in your life henceforth!
Here is my Card
Take Care and may all your dreams come true!

Fluther is a little emptier without JP… he’ll be sorely missed… but we’ll keep his memory alive on case of PBR and one dick-punch at a time!
I liked JP. I hope he reincarnates himself here. If not, I wish him well.
He’s totally reading this
“Get back in my life, you big asshole.”
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
He’s coming back by the way—as far as I understand. He’s just taking a break.
why exactly did he leave?
Ah, johnpowell, well he taught me alot about ipods, oh and he even went through the trouble of downloading some site for me so I could get the 3.0 update for free. He will be missed
Fluther feels strange and empty now…
He was one of the first people who I added to my fluther, and was one of the first people that I could tell made Fluther so great. It just isn’t the same now. Lots of techie questions now go unanswered…
So far I have been here for 2 fluther time periods. JP and after JP.
I know where you live. The next time I go west I will come to your house with a burrito and some PBR.
You better still show up in campfire.
There are going to be a lot of us waiting for your return. We want you to enjoy the sunshine, but we’re secretly hoping it gets cold and rainy soon.
I <4 you JP.
Cheers JP! Enjoy the wonderful world outside your basement!
I will say that I will now be occasionally frequenting the chat room in hope johnpowell shows up…
he’s probably making another account as we speak
A wise and treasured rare bird,
not unlike the owl,
such is the handsome devil
the sorely missed JohnPowell!
Who’s wit and wisdom
helped us out
through many a pondered pose,
we will feel his absence now
as we struggle to answer those
more difficult questions
that get brought
to the collective Fluther
so we understand
why you must leave,
but hurry back dear brother
i now have wild world by cat stevens stuck in my head.
jp, from cat stevens to me to you, “take good care, hope you make a lot of nice friends out there, but just remember there’s a lot of bad and beware…”.
we’ll miss you, hope to see you back soon. ):
also @dog that is a wonderful video/card!
hehe everyone is attacking with lurve
Dear JP,
Thanks for all the laughs, words of wisdom, and valuable insights into delivering a correct dick punch. Although Fluther will continue onward without your presence, you will never be out of our collective consciousness as we cohabitate here on a daily basis. We request that you return here at your soonest convenience so that we all can be that much more influenced by your esteemed participation. Eat, drink, and be merry and enjoy yourself to the fullest during your hiatus. =)
Thank you for your help. You will be missed.
JP you better be JP (just playing)
Haiku for JP:
Dick punches can hurt
it’s true, but not like I hurt
now that JP’s gone
Come back soon, Ryan!
I would like to note that I cried – actual tears – when I found out he was gone last night. Does that make him awesome, or does that make me pathetic?
I hope you don’t stay away, I have noted that you give fine answers.
yes, it seems some are quite moved…
jp….You are still the man!. Best wishes for bright days, total happiness, true love, much success and an endless flow of PBR. Thanks for being a very fine fluther friend….I lurve you, jp! Rock on! See ya…..wtf
A note to the new recipient(s) of jp’s attention: If you haven’t already noticed, you are very, very fortunate….no, make that, you are blessed to have jp in your life and to have this opportunity to get to know him. Respect him, reciprocate his kindness, pay attention to his words, cherish the time you share with him and never, ever take him for granted….he is one very special dude.
PS: he is a sucker for burritos, pizza and PBR!
@Dog….great question and beautiful video
@augustlan. It makes you awesome for caring so much and JP awesome for having such a positive impact on all of us here. I’ve known you for a long time on Fluther now, augustlan, and I could never, ever think of anything that would make you pathetic. You’re a wonderful person and don’t forget it.
JP Thanks for having made my world a bit brighter, a bit happier, a bit more wiser for having been in it. I look forward to the rainy season, and for you to come back.
A Fluther without the dick-punch?!? Nooooooooooo!!!
for the record, I’m completely lost. JP left last night?! Why? What happened?
Thanks @YARNLADY (I totally missed that. Why must I sleep?)
Wait! Where the hell is JP going?!?
yeah i am totally lost. i know it doesn’t matter for the purposes of the virtual going away card but i am really curious and out of the loop. he’s going someplace without computers (does such a place exist)? or he does not like us any more?
Is he going “off the grid”?
See Yarnlady’s link above.
Im totally bummed out now, who the heck am I supposed to argue with in the chatroom??!??
JP: From the very beginning you struck a chord in me with your honesty and your vulnerability. I’ll be the first one in line to buy the book of your life story. You know I’ve always encouraged you to take good care of yourself; may your time away from here fill you up and may the sun warm your soul. Take care and come back when you’re ready!
thank you yarnlady for the link that explains it all.
all the time when i’m on the computer, i feel guilty like i should be reading, walking, cleaning, outside. often i feel like the computer is a waste of time. i can’t say i blame john powell for his time out.
Without John Powell Fluther will not be the same. That. Simple.
he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back • he’ll be back Gotta think positive.
@cprevite if you say his name three times in the mirror in your bathroom, he’ll magically appear.
like Biggie Smalls
What does getting “dick-punched” mean?
@Tink1113 it means getting punched in the dick. not exactly science…
it’s a phrase johnpowell coined.
@Tink1113. Someone punches you in your family jewels with a clenched fist. If they slap at your gonads with an open palm and a limp wrist, that is something entirely different and probably not worth further discussion. I should have quit while I was ahead.
@eponymousehipster Yeah I know he said that, but I never really got it
Now it’s just like pancackes
@Bluefreedom Ouch!
@cprevite Lurve- and an icebag!
During his hiatus I think I will miss the humor the most- when he posted I knew I would either laugh or learn. I wonder if he is at the park again today with the PBR and a book!
Perhaps we should all take a day off to follow his example. To the park!
I’m going this afternoon! no beer allowed at this park though I will buy some PBR on the way home.
I’d just put this and he’d know what it meant: (tfb)
It’s sad he left, but I talk to him all the time as it is. It’s a little loss, but if he’s happy then that’s what matters. And like he said… he might be back when the rain starts. =]
SHIT! For real?!?!
Alright well, I suppose his absence is for his best interest. The biggest thing I would want to tell him is THANK YOU!! Not only did he provide me with good laughs but there were a few times he really saved my ass. Like the time I deleted my entire utilities folder and he helped me out in getting it back.
You’ll be truly missed my friend.
Dude, you have been a hell of a friend to me over the last year+. Aside from all the expert Fluthering and brilliant answers you’ve given, you bought me dinner, sold me your iPod on the cheap (I still use it every day), and drew me a cartoon complete with hidden sentimental note.
I have never once seen you take out a bad mood on another person or be anything other than helpful and awesome, except for an occasional (highly deserved) harsh word in the pursuit of righteous justice and equality. There’s not a lot in the world I respect more than that. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: You are the shit, and you deserve nothing but happiness in the world.
It is special to be your own person marching to your own pace, saying and doing unique things. You are that special kind of person, jp.
It is not possible to mend the whole left in fabric of Fluther by your going.
I have been there (leaving). I get it.
Maybe you will come back someday if it right for you.
Meantime, thank you.
What’s the capital of Thailand?
@kevbo BANG COCK! (punches and runs away)
@Tink1113 i’m gonna assume you’re being funny.
@Dog i can’t resist, just like i’m irresistible myself.
@eponymoushipster Please never take a hiatus! It would be frightfully dull without you too!
@Dog don’t knock it til you’ve tried it! monkey-free is still light and delicious.
@eponymoushipster
I wasn’t trying to, I really thought it was. Yes my grades must be bad, but I don’t have a history class so idk
@Tink1113 that would be Geography or Social Studies. History is another subject altogether. lol
Ack, the typing gremlins got me again. Sorry, all. That was supposed to be “hole in the fabric of Fluther,” but I may let it stand as a Freudian slip as we are not whole without you, jp.
I am getting out of the house today like JP is doing. Taking the family to the park and bringing a good book and beer!
Happy Day All!
I’m going to play softball today. JP’s advice is good advice.
Fluther will still be here when you get back.
@The_Compassionate_Heretic That is what I did yesterday for 12 hours. I’m paying for it today. Got hit in the mouth with a ball.
I’m so sore. It would’ve been safer to fluther but I had a good time.
In honor of @Johnpowell, I left work early (2:30PM) today.
I am currently on a Boston Harbor cruise exploring the Tall Ships – and it’s a beautiful day.
It would say:
JP, you were one of the most valued users on Fluther, one of the many. You were witty, knowledgeable, and just all-around a great guy. I really wish you would come back. We miss you. We lurve you. ;~;
Ryan, your contributions will be missed. Hurry back.
Hes back it’s, @ryanpowell
That was a short hiatus.
He’s like the Michael Jordan of Fluther.
I took a whole week and plugged into life. It is a beautiful world out there!
@Dog Don’t look now, but he took my advice, and came back real soon.
