Too much wheat grass, barley, blue algae, and the like usually do it for me.
I think it is different for just about everybody. Are you having some sort of stomach problems that prompt you to ask the question?
I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and can eat anything one day and be fine. Next day tea and toast will set me off!
Usually anything spicy in large quantities. Curry, curry and lots of curry and chili and spicy oily stuff. You get that feeling in your stomach which tells you that you’ve made a big mistake and you’re now going to pay for it.
I know it’s not a food, but stay away from coffee.
I feel your pain, @rooeytoo. I feel your pain. :(
Spicy foods, fruit juices and some fruits, cheese, beans
Too much dairy does it for me. Try drinking soy milk for a while instead of normal milk and see if that’s it, could be lactose intolerant or something.
There are a lot of fruits like coconut that are natural laxatives so watch out for those. Grapes seem to cause it too(for me at least).
@rooeytoo I’ve just been having it a lot recently and I want to pinpoint the problem so it can stop.
I don’t eat that much dairy, but I do eat a lot of beef. And @DrasticDreamer my daily coffee will be a tough habit to break.
I thought diarrhea was caused by a bacteria. There are hardly any foods that give me that particular problem, beans just give me gas, and there’s nothing like a good loud fart to disperse a crowd and make you laugh. I of course have a cast iron stomach and can eat just about anything, except Asian food, I can’t stomach that at all.
For me it is impossible to pinpoint. But if this is something that just started for you, depending on your age, you might want to see a doctor.
It could be something as simple as Irritable Bowel, which is annoying, but no big deal really. Or it could be a more serious problem
You have to figure out if you have changed your eating habits, have more stress or anything that might affect your gut or your mind.
Dairy is very common. If you want to test it, don’t have any dairy for a two weeks. Then go ahead and have a glass of milk and see what happens. Many people don’t notice that that feel better at first, but then you test it by drinking the milk you realize how crappy you feel.
You can try it with anythng you are suspicious of. Eggs are common, maybe an herb, wheat products, etc.
@rooeytoo I’m 19. Does that mean I should see a doctor?
Also, I just foud something on wikipedia : “Serotonin stimulates the gut motility and so agonists can help constipation-predominate irritable bowel, while antagonists can help diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel”. I have ADD and I also take medication for dysfunctional motor neurons, which may effect my serotonin levels. But it’s hard to pinpoint this as the cause because I can’t go off these meds.
I don’t eat that much dairy, so I doubt that is the cause. I only have dairy in coffee, pizza, pasta or prepared in another way, which happens rarely.
Have you tried taking acidopholous for a couple of weeks. Just buy some pills, they have to be kept in the fridge, they help put the good bacteria in your tummy and intestines. Acidopholous is also called lactibicillus. You can usually find it in a drugstore either in the vitamin area or the stomach medicine area. Once you open it you have to keep it in the fridge or all of the bacterias die. Costs usually $6—$15 depending on the brand abd how many pills in the bottle.
@JLeslie Thanks so much, I’ll definitely check that out :)
