How do you keep track of friends' information and not lose it?

Asked by lilgiraffe (286points) July 14th, 2009

Especially for acquaintances that you really get along well with, but you just don’t talk to them that often.
Like how many kids they have & how old they are, what is their next big project etc.?

Hmm, I have a lot of friends with little kids but I’m just good at remembering numbers.
I do write some things down, but I don’t usually have an issue with this.

I think you should start keeping notes, just write the birthday down so you always know the age and names. And any other notes you think are significant.

My dad is a freak about this. He keeps information about everyone in the Contacts application of his Palm Pilot. I think maybe he works for the CIA.

In his case, I think the factors that contribute to his success are that he is content to stay married to old technology and he has built such a huge database that finishing the 5% of undocumented personal info about people he meets is proportionally easier to do and consistently gives him the satisfaction of a complete
database. Also, possibly working for the CIA might help.
