My favorite part was how he kept referring to the group as Americans, and not Black Americans.

Is the phrase “colored people” not offensive?
What a great speech! It was eloquent, well thought out, well delivered, energetic, and on target. It’s nice to have a President who doesn’t make up words, or stumble over his own speeches.
Why is the NAACP still in existence?
@Facade – The current head says that they are for all colored people, not just blacks, and as such the need still exists.
The percentage of blacks in jail, dropping out of school and the like compared to white was also brought up.
This was in a recent interview.
Not an opinion of mine one way or the other.
@Facade
Until the KKK is gone we will have the NAACP. Obama won but racism is alive and well in this country.
Very inspiring, as usual. I especially like the fact that he mentioned “our gay brothers and sisters” still being denied their rights.
It was needed. He critiqued as well as praised, and did both equally as well.
