If you could travel only forward in time how far would you go?

Life so so fleeting- to even go a week forward one risks finding themselves at the end of it so I shall stay put thanks.

Like @Dog, I’d stay put. There’s so much one can learn in a single day. So much can happen and if I travel forward in time, I would only be left with the memories of how I experienced it, as compared to the feeling of being there at that point in time.

It’s the past and the present which makes me who I am. The future should remain as it is; the future till it becomes the present and then the past.

Plus the fact that you don’t wanna mess up with the space-time continuum. Very risky that

I’d go to a time where I’m out of school, married, happy, and well-off. So make it about 5 years.

I agree with the previous responses but I would probably go forward about 3 years. I would be done with school and hopefully working in my desired field…or living on the streets.

The past is history. The future is yet to come. The present is a gift.. that’s why they call it the present.

I can only go forward in time.

1000 years..to see where humans had evolved, or existed. Then to read the history form there to discover the solutions to present problems.

@eponymoushipster you just prefer to travel at the normal rate of time though, right?

I would go just far enough to see if my kids really grow up and become responsible adults! I mean good jobs, homes, stuff like that. Otherwise…

@dannyc You mean how present problems became worse and all the new and interesting problems arose? Or is this forward 1000 years and into the Star Trek universe?

I’d stay put, the future looks scary from here. Even 20 years from now frightens the crap out of me. Besides, if you go forward into the future longer than a human lifespan, you end up in the future, and dead. Kind of hard to enjoy the journey when you’re dead.

I would go forward to the time when they discover a cure for diabetes, get healed, and then immediately return to the here and now.

@Bluefreedom while you are there can you grab me some medical journals? I would love to see how we have advanced in other ways medically.

I will go forward to the point we can space traveling to different galaxies to explore new worlds… cue Startrek theme music really!

@Dog. I will certainly do that. I’ll bring back a sports almanac too so we can play the sports book in Las Vegas and make a fortune.

I have already done it. It is a big pain in the ass.

I’d stay put. Whenever I was super excited for something, like summer vacation, and would say that I wished it would just BE vacation already, my mom would tell me to stop wishing my life away. So, yeah, basically, I try to take the live in the present approach because if you spend your time looking to the future you’re just wishing your life away.

If I had the ability to come back to the present after my journey to the future… I probably wouldn’t go anywhere anyways. At first I was contemplating going like 500 years into the future to see how the world is doing, if we destroyed the environment or not and all that, or maybe 10 years to see if I’m doing alright. But, I don’t want to be depressed by what I see!

I’d rather go back if that were a choice. If I knew when my current troubles will be over, I might be tempted to turn the clock forward to that precise moment, but I think part of the joy of overcoming a challenge is the strife that comes with it. I am in a pretty bad place right now, but hope it will get better soon.

I used to think about this as a child – wondering what I would look like at 20, 30, 60? Then I had the awful thought that what if my wish were granted and I saw myself dead! No thanks, I don’t want to see myself dead.

I’d probably go a few days, weeks, months or years after I die, just to see what’s happening and how my life turned out when I was still “alive.” Then, just for fun, maybe I’d freak out my family and friends. Also, I would do all the stuff I missed out on when I was alive…sort of a last hoorah.
