I’m planning on getting a iPhone soon, so I’m also looking for protective covers. I want something to protect the phone but at the same time something that wont make it bulky or look ugly. maybe something clear?

It is already ugly so doubt you will have a problem , Is what i would use I plan on using something like that for my windows mobile next year .
Incipio some nice ones (the feather is especially minimalist—I like mine, but as for protection, well, it’ll probably do no more than keep scratches off). The other case that I have which is not bulky and offers more protection than the Incipio feather, is the Incase Slider Some people have complained that it scratched their iPhones, but I’ve had absolutely no problem with mine. The best case I’ve ever owned is a Vaja. You can choose between many different styles, some less bulky than others. What I liked about mine (for the original iPhone) was that it offered real screen protection. But it is bulkier than the two I mentioned above and Vaja cases are really, really expensive.
People rave about the Invisible Shield from the first link.
However, I decided against if for myself and opted for a clear shield for the front and a Belkin wrap-around for the body.
I’m more interested in function than form. A clear skin all around will keep scratches off, but I don’t think it offers enough protection if accidentally dropped.
I have a cat who is still kittenish enough to take great delight knocking things off the nightstand and so far it has protected my phone really well. If I ever decide to resell it it will be in pristine condition and will look just fine. The new owner can than enjoy how it looks—right now I don’t care. Protection is way more important to me than looks.
The other problem to consider is that it will very easily fall out of pockets if it’s too slick. It happened several times before I got the case and lucky for me, it fell on carpetl.
I’ll try to find a link for the
Belkin——I think it looks quite stylish and I like the pattern.
I don’t really have any protection for my iphone. I am just really careful with it. However, it is more durable that I would have imagined. One time my husband dropped it and it skidded across the kitchen floor and ended up without a scratch. I was lucky, I suppose.
Too late to edit my first post—Here’s the link for the Belkin with a pic. Personally I think the black with the wave-form touches of red looks really stylish. But everybody’s different.

@basp Yes, you really were fortunate. I almost had a heart attack the first time it fell out of my pocket-that iphone surface is really really slick. Even before I had my iphone that was the biggest problem I had with cell phones—falling out of my pocket in the car mostly.
When I got my little Samsung, I immediately went on Ebay and spent 7 bucks for a leather looking case with a clip with an iron grip-never had it slip out of my pocket ever again. I was so dissapointed that nothing similar existed for iphone—and still doesn’t afaik.
However, the silicone of the Belkin is nice and grippy so it stays in my pockets—no more heart attacks. :)
My wife has an Otterbox Defender which is probably the most protective case you’ll find. It’s a hard plastic case with a silicone case over it, all ports are covered, screen is covered, etc. It is pretty bulky, but it’s very, very protected.
I use the Elan Form Chrome and like it a lot. It’s a faux hard leather case with chrome trim. Looks a lot like the regular iPhone and it’s not very bulky. The bottom slides off easily so you can still put it in a docking station and it includes a screen protector. There are other styles of Elan cases from Griffin that are the same style, just a different design like the carbon fiber one.
already ugly? thanks for the laugh!
I use a couple different things… one is a Gelaskin which is a high quality durable decal for the back. (they have tons of contemporary and classic artists to choose from) They are cut to fit nicely and I’ve been using them for years and the decal hasn’t worn off of any of my devices.
I also have a silicone case for when I’m out and about, I use a Tuffwrap from Xtrememac. This case isn’t too bulky and feels really good in the hands. (it has a nice texture in the silicone) This case isn’t flimsy and poorly molded, looks really sharp. I wish they had pictures of the back because the case is really well designed with the dual tone. (I have the green one). They are set to release a new line of them soon here’s a pic
Those Tuffwrap cases also come with a protective film for the front of the iphone, it’s an anti-glare film that barely shows any fingerprints. I fully endorse it. :)
