Asked by wedge71 (6points) July 23rd, 2009

The… reply was from a girl I’ve been seeing who is breaking up with her current boyfriend. She hadn’t returned my call, so I asked her via text if she was ignoring me. Her response was…

I think only she can know what that would mean

Maybe that the question was strange? If she was ignoring you, she probably would’ve just ignored that text from you as well.

It could mean anything if you asked her if she was ignoring you then it probably means, that she doesn’t want to talk to you, or, she doesn’t know what to tell you…

This response does not have a universal meaning that strangers can reveal or guess at. The only one who knows what that message means is the person who sent it.

Maybe she hit send before she entered any text. I’ve done that before and it shows up blank.

Only she can really know, but I would generally take that as her being confused by your text message.

When I use ’...’ (alone) in a text I use it as if saying “is that all you’re going to say?”

It might also mean no news yet. Hang in there. Try asking her.

usually when I use ”...” it’s either being irritated, and the answer is obvious, or “what a stupid question, why would I ignore you”.

And if she hasn’t replied back with anything but ”...” I’d imagine, the answer is obvious, “yes I am ignoring you.”

My guess is that it meant “I got your text, and yes, I am ignoring you.”

In this case, I would say avoidance. Maybe she didn’t quite know what to say.

i would text back “huh?”

Maybe she’s at a loss for words. I use it for that purpose. But in your particular case I’d wonder if it was avoidance.
