Are people who have dreamcatchers hanging from the rear view mirror trying to be tribal, or are they actually sleeping in their cars?
Dreamcatchers are supposed to be positioned above where you sleep.

I imagine it’s just decorative.
But, who knows? I sleep in the bed of my truck sometimes. But I have Dr. J in the back window watching over me. (Thanks again evelyns_pet_zebra!)
The ones for the car are supposed to already have dreams in them for a safe trip.
Well I think those things are really to catch large flying insects. That can really distract you while driving and a Venus Fly trap is too high maintenance for the dashboard.
It probably depends on the individual. However, I have known several folks who not only slept in their cars but lived in their cars, and none of them had dream catchers.
I sometimes sleep in my truck at my son’s sports practices or during movie shoots when I am not needed, but I have the starship Enterprise hanging from my rear-view mirror. It keeps the Romulans away very nicely. Also elephants.
Perhaps their child made it for them in art class. No one wants to disapoint the munchkin by telling them it’s useless and trivializes real tribal art.
So you smile, hang it in your car and say, “It’s wonderful dear.”
::ahem:: not that I’ve had experience with this
I think it would hardly be a dream to have to sleep in your car. I would probably be investing in a nightmare preventer (sic).
I’m a reckless driver…so I would be sleeping in the car…
Some people think they just look cool. They probably don’t care what they mean!
Maybe they are warding off other bad drivers.
That gave me a good laugh.
I tend to think of these folks the same way I think of folks with Rosaries hanging on their review mirror. One word comes to mind: poser.
I always ask myself this question? I guess @YARNLADY answered it.
Maybe they have rosaries hanging on their rear view mirrors because they are such bad drivers that they need all the help they can get just to make it across town without killing anybody.
And if they are in a crash, at least they have a rosary handy for when they get the last rites.
Where is RedPowerLady when you need her?
@augustlan Good question… she’s been AWOL for some time. It’s that natural progression of places like these for people to visit and then move on, I suppose.
Great question. another that falls under obnoxious yet legitimate.
