Would anyone else be more impressed with the drivers of hybrids if their cars looked no different from the non hybrid version?

all cars should look like hybrids.
or like this

I really like the way my sister’s car is set up (it’s a Prius). I prefer that set up to a “regular car” set up. But my sister would have bought it either way. She hates driving, loves the environment, and is tickled pink that she needs less than one tank of gas a month.

I’m not impressed either way.

I am only impressed by people that drive Toyota pickups. Hybrids look like June bugs on wheels.

I agree with Empress P’s sister. The Prius has a great body design – not aesthetically, speaking for myself, but it has all this cargo space without being extra long. Also comfy and fabulous visibility. No complaints here.

Also, the Honda hybrids do look exactly like “regular” cars.

That explains their relative failure. All the proof i need that hybrids are all about image.

Hybrids are a nice idea, but ultimately doomed to fade into oblivion. Their batteries are low capacity so most of the time you will run on the normal petrol engine.
Some diesel cars have lower fuel consumption, like the lupo with over 70 mpg. Next year, VW will start a small production sale of their 1L car, a 1 cylinder diesel, which as the name implies, needs less than 1L/100km.
But the future belongs to electric vehicles (if they implement the newly developed technique that enables batteries to be charged within minutes) and most importantly hydrogen powered cars.
