i have a 80 gig ipod that will not sync correctly with my intel macbook. when i plug it in, itunes recognizes it and the sync starts. after syncing a few songs it just freezes. i can do other things with itunes but the sync any farther. it wont let me eject the ipod or stop the sync unless i unplug it altogether. ive tried restoring it to no avail. what can i try now?

have you restored the original software? (tried to update the ipod firmware?)
. ive tried restoring it to no avail. ...like i said ;)
It could be a corrupt file in your library. I would try making a new playlist and add some (not all) music on it and just try syncing that.
it will occasionally finish a sync if i only do 1 cd but ive tried deleting the file it gets stuck on and it just gets stuck again on something else. usually on about the 10th or so file but not always. i got to 149 last nite but when i looked on the ipod it only had 29 songs
also sometimes it will send a song then next time i try it wont send the same some. so im thinking not a corrupt song =(
Have you tried using a different USB port?
yes tried different usb and just tried a different program to send songs…ipod broken?
which iPod is it? What Gen?
try this
do a hard reset by holding menu and center until you see the apple logo
then do center and left until you get to diagnostic mode
do a hdd test
to me it sounds like your ipod is failing.
i reinstalled itunes and even tried downgrading itunes. no luck. it will start transfering then after some random amount of songs it just stops. you can push the little triangle to see whats playing and all and the syncing please wait thing flashes up every few seconds and dissapears like normal. the ipod says syncing and the arrows are turning
i tried it on my windows comp and it asked to be reformated to win. i dont have internet on that comp so i took it to my roommates. reformated and synced half a gig of songs, all his music onto it no prob. i took it back to my win comp. it gets stuck syncing!!!
This may seem trivial, but try using different cables, and if applicable, bypassing any USB ports; also connect directly to the CPU, not through the keyboard. Apart from everyone else’s advice, I would probably guess the HDD or interface card failing on the iPod.
@skabeep Hmm.. Is your computer usually slow? Is it old? Maybe time for new computer? Sorry I couldn’t be any more help.
year old macbook. works like the day i bought it
did you try testing the ipod HDD LIKE I SAID?!?!
:D
Use disk utility to verify the iPod in question. I’m assuming it’s a classic. The thing is, if it’s syncing fine with your friend’s computer it should sync fine with yours…..
i tried hdd test and it said had to connect to power. but i had it hooked up the whole time
I dont think it’s the iPod anymore. Try getting your MacBook checked, that might be the problem.
Go to the apple discussion forums, because there tend to be professionals lurking around over there. I know quite a bit about apple products, but you might be forgetting to include vital information about your product.
Maybe thereĀ“s a damaged file on your iPod. I had the same problems when I bought a game with my iPod Touch in the App Store. I deleted the file and now it works…
