I've noticed that my twelve year old "puppies" back legs shake from time to time. He still acts "puppyish" and seems relatively healthy, otherwise. Is there anything that you'd recommend for the pain (?)?

I’m thinking that his hips are starting to go. :( He’s a Chia-Pom (Chihuahua/Pomeranian) and weighs about 9 lbs.

You could safely give him aspirin, but I’d check with your vet first just to be sure.
What’s with the ” ” all the time?
Anyway, sounds like a problem with the hips, get it checked
@Bobbydavid because he’s a twelve year, grizzly pooch (missing a few teeth here and there) who still thinks that he’s a puppy…
Glucosamine is usually recommended for joint strength/pain relief in older dogs. It treats arthritis (which could be what’s happening), and general weakening and pain in the joints.
They have treats with the supplement in it, that should give recommendations for the amount of treat per size of your pooch on the back some where. If nothing for dogs will work for his size, you could try cat glucosamine treats too.
There should be a whole aisle of medical/vitamin supplementary treats at your local Pet Co. or what not, so it will be there. Look around for other treats that give pain relief/joint strength, but glucosamine should help a lot.
Maybe your puppy is nervous or shy at first…
You can go to the Vet and see what they’ll say. I hope your puppy is well.
Take him to your vet. Have them radiograph his hips. Based on the findings, they will be able to recommend appropriate treatment for his age and health.
There’s medication for humans, well it’s herbal for joints but I forget the name. You can buy it from health shops. I had a dog withthis problem and was advised to give him this and my god it worked wonders and was a tenth of the vet prescribed drugs
I agree with svz take your puppy to the vet, have him/her checked and go with what they recommend.
I’ve got an appointment for him on Tuesday.
http://www.vetinfo.com/aspirin-common-poisoner.html Aspirin-the quickest fix for discomfort found in your own medicine cabinet-may be highly toxic to a dog. Aspirin toxicity can cause life-threatening, long-term complications and even death, especially in young or small dogs. But, with the right dose, aspirin can be a very helpful medicine for your dog. Following a proper dosage schedule is critical; never give your dog over the counter aspirin without first consulting your vet.
There are so many pain relievers available to humans that choosing just one can be confusing. Not so with our pets. There aren’t many over-the-counter pet pain relievers. When a pet is in pain, owners are eager to give medication to ease that pain, but giving human medications to animals can cause more problems than it cures. Learn why in this article
@YARNLADY I read somewhere that baby aspirin was okay, though??
Not without asking your vet first.
Right. Thank-you for the link.
